Effective Date: September 16, 2026 · Taking Charge Inc.
Taking Charge Incorporated, an Ohio corporation doing business as Check On Me™ ("Taking Charge," "Check On Me™," "we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the Check On Me™ mobile application, website, customer support, and related services collectively referred to as the "Service."
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Service.
When you create an account or subscribe, we collect:
Full name
Cell phone number
Password (encrypted)
Subscription status
Billing information (processed via Stripe; we do not store full credit card numbers)
Users must provide at least one (1) emergency contact and may provide up to three (3). For each contact, we collect their name and cell phone number. By providing emergency contact information, you represent and warrant that you have obtained permission from each contact, informed them that they may receive automated SMS notifications, and are authorized to provide their contact information.
Emergency contacts may reply STOP to stop messages or HELP for assistance. If an emergency contact opts out, we will no longer send messages to that number. You are responsible for updating or replacing an emergency contact who can no longer receive notifications.
We collect information needed to operate the Service, including:
Daily check-in confirmations
Missed check-in records
SMS notification timestamps
SOS activity and alert status
Log data
Device type and operating system
If you miss a daily check-in, you will receive a follow-up message. If no response is received, your emergency contact(s) may receive: "[Name] has not responded to their daily Check On Me™ wellness check. Please reach out. This is an automated notification service and not an emergency response provider." SMS messages are delivered through Project Broadcast. By subscribing, you and your emergency contact(s) expressly consent to receive automated SMS messages. Message and data rates may apply.
When you activate the SOS feature and grant location permission, Check On Me™ may collect your device's precise location so the Service can include your location or a map link in an alert sent to your selected emergency contacts. We do not use precise location for advertising or marketing. We do not constantly monitor your location.
Location accuracy depends on your device, permission settings, GPS signal, cellular or internet connection, and third-party mapping services. If you deny or revoke location permission, an SOS alert may be sent without your location. You can manage location permission through your device settings.

All data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS) and encrypted at rest. Administrative access is limited to Taking Charge Inc., its authorized representatives, and authorized technical contractors and developers. No transmission method is 100% secure.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, loss, and disclosure. These safeguards include access controls and encryption during transmission where appropriate.
No system, transmission method, or storage method is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and provide notices as required by applicable law.
We retain data while your account remains active, as required by law, and for dispute resolution and enforcement. Requests for access, correction, or deletion must be submitted to [email protected] with the phone number used to set up your account. Cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically delete stored data.
The App is intended only for individuals 18 years or older located in the United States and Canada. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
By subscribing, you consent to receive automated SMS messages, represent that you have obtained consent from emergency contacts, and acknowledge that emergency contacts may receive safety-related SMS without separate enrollment. Check On Me™ does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise a right, contact [email protected].
You may use an authorized agent where applicable law permits. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Because check-in and SOS activity may reflect general wellness or safety information, residents of states with consumer-health-data laws may have additional rights. We use this information only to provide and secure the Service, comply with law, and carry out the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We do not collect or sell consumer health data.
California residents may request access to personal information, correction, or deletion (subject to legal retention requirements). Submit requests to [email protected].
Canadian users may request access to personal information under our control, ask how it has been used or disclosed, challenge its accuracy, request a correction, withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions, or make a complaint about our privacy practices.
The Privacy Officer for Taking Charge Incorporated may be contacted at [email protected] or at the mailing address listed below.
We will investigate privacy complaints and respond within the time required by applicable Canadian law. You may also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial privacy regulator.
The App is operated from the United States. Data is processed in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of changes.
We may disclose or transfer information as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction. Any successor will be required to handle personal information consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Users provide consent to receive SMS messages by subscribing to Check On Me™ and providing their phone number during account registration. These messages may include daily wellness check-ins, check-in follow-ups, safety escalation alerts to emergency contacts, and account-related notifications.
Message frequency varies depending on user activity, including missed check-ins and system-triggered alerts. Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan.
You or an emergency contact may reply STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE to stop SMS messages and HELP for assistance. Disabling push notifications, SMS messages, cellular service, or internet access may prevent the Service from operating as intended.
Note: Stopping SMS messages does not cancel a paid subscription. To request support for help or to cancel your subscription, email [email protected] with the phone number used to set up your account at least 72 hours before your subscription renewal. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions.
Mobile information, including text messaging opt-in data and consent, will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how your personal information is handled, please contact us at [email protected]
